I think it’s a good idea to do some personal work every once in a while.

With spring in full bloom, I wanted to incorporate something with flowers.

Other than that, I just wanted soft, beautiful portraits.

My lovely model, Hannah, volunteered and let me do her hair and make-up–another passion of mine.

Floral Design by Erin made three floral headpieces for us and I absolutely feel in love with them.

They were so beautiful and added just the pop of color I wanted. I thank her for time and talents.

A few weeks ago, Kristin and I hosted a business workshop for photographers. I have been wanting to do something like this for such a long time and I’m so glad we finally made it happen. It was a lot of work and I was nothing short of exhausted afterwards, but it was worth every second of it!

We had ten beautiful women attend the workshop and I enjoyed getting to know them so much. Business really excites me and Kristin, so seeing others making changes and finding ways to become more successful is really rewarding.

We started out the day with some introductions. Kristin and I shared our stories of how we came to own businesses. This transitioned into our section about Identifying Strengths and Authentic Personality. As we prepped for our workshop, I feel like this section is the base for everything. There isn’t one right way to be successful. It’s all about recognizing what makes us unique, identifying strengths, and channeling that into our businesses.

Next I talked about all the nitty-gritty financial and legal aspects of a business. While this topic can sometimes be a drag, it is so important! And it’s often something business owners procrastinate because it seems hard, but I showed how to make it easy, stay organized, and do things correctly.

Then Kristin talked Systematization and Organization, which she is an absolute pro at! I learned so many things from her that I want to implement in my business as well.

We then had a break for a delicious lunch and head shots.

After lunch I talked about Post Production and creating a workflow to maximize efficiency.

Then I covered Marketing, Networking, and Social Media and how to best use these tools to get business.

Then we finished up talking about the client experience and how to not only keep your head straight with everything, but also have happy clients!

I thank each of these women for giving us the chance to teach them! It was such a great experience.

And I couldn’t have done this without Kristin! She brings so many talents and ideas that I lack.

We would love to fill our June 4th workshop to capacity as well!

After taking her business full-time early last year, she went from booking six weddings one year to 31 the next. Her background in finance has given her the education and experience necessary to bypass the many hurdles new business owners face.

 

 

 

 

Kristin has been a photographer and owner of Kristin Brown Photography for four years. During that time, she discovered an unexpected love for all things business. With experience working for and assisting other small companies, she is now capitalizing on her strengths in business to help others run their own small creative businesses more effectively. She loves helping others find a way to make a living doing something they love.

Having photographed Lex & Brian’s wedding, I was so excited to spend more time with this lovely couple.

They are such wonderful people and great parents.

I thank them for letting me into their lives for many important events!

And I’ll say it again, I absolutely LOVE photographing birth stories.

Getting these images ready for post brought back so many wonderful emotions for me.

Birth is a beautiful miracle and I love documenting it for others.

I guess Utah winters aren’t so bad when you have great light and a cute couple to photograph.
